As a child, one of my favorite memories at my Grandma’s house was when all of the cousins would get together and she would rip off big sheets of butcher paper, fold them in half, and with ease and grace, she would cut out these fantastic cowboys for us to color.  I recently found a few of the old cowboys that we had colored as kids.  (Below I’m holding one I colored about 30 years ago.)  For the last few mornings, I’ve been cutting out cowboys for my kids to color.  I think they love it as much as I do.  I made a printable template if you want to try it too!

Click on the image below, then print, fold in half, and cut along the line.

It is obvious that you come from a very fun and talented family. These will be a great activity at our cabin.

I LOVE these – I can't wait to do some with my own boy (who is a year and a half, and I expect it will be mostly me colouring and telling him not to eat the crayons)

what I also LOVE is your shirt…is that a camper? it's awesome.

    thanks for the crafty idea!

    Thanks everybody!

HighlandGhillie – Thanks, yeah that is a trailer on my shirt. It's one of my designs. I actually started a Zillow Shop online awhile back, just so I could make shirts and coffee mugs and stuff for myself. But you can totally buy one if you want. It's actually quite good quality. You can get American Apparel shirts and everything.

Here's the link to my online shop if you want to check it out:

I love that you unearthed something from your childhood to share with your kids. Think of all the great finds they will have when they are adults.

Fun! Could be a great craft for our English playgroup. I'm always looking for more 'universal' or more boy-ish themes.

At first I thought they were "paper chain" dolls….you know, all the cowboys holding hands. (made by cutting out a drawing placed on the straight edge of a paper fan.) Now I'm really getting ideas! Thanks for so much inspiration, Joel!

    Thanks!

Flying Squirrel – Ah, yes, I'd forgotten about those. That would be cool to do a cowboy version. ha.
