I have great memories of making these paper helicopters when I was a kid. They fly so well! The kids love dropping and watching them spin to the ground. My son also really likes toys that have people on them – so introducing Copterman and Copterwoman! The amazing rescuers that can bend their elbows backwards!

We’ve been having a hilarious time coming up with rescue scenes. And I apologize for the cheesy video. The kids made me do it! (There’s a very quick how-to at the end. Also, we didn’t yet have Copterwoman!)

Printable Template below if you want to have some superhero action!

If you don’t have a printer, it’s very easy to make your own copter by just looking at the template.)

Template: Click on the image below, then print. (Each template makes two Helicopters. I like regular printer paper for this because it’s lighter and they fly longer.)

It is also fun to tie a piece of yarn to the copter at the bottom. Then the child can run holding the yarn and the copter will spin behind him. This is a fun way to play with it if you don’t have a place to drop it from.

    1. Ha! Oh man Pete, that’s golden! I was born in 73, so perhaps that’s why I’ve always ridden the funk wave. I love the long rolling drum fills in that one! Nice!

I’d like to request one of the people on the template be a female. My son and daughter would love having different characters. I think I’ll adapt one on my own, but it would be nice if there was a female represented on the template. Thanks.

    1. I just updated it! When I was originally making the template, I realized there was room for two, so I quickly added another Copterman. Of course there should be a Coptergirl too!

  3. My pupils (4 years old) loved to do it ! In order they will be able to cut easily the copter (wo)man, I print it 140%.
Thank you very much for the work you share !

great success in school …even kids from other classes came and asked for a photocopy …. thank you :)

  5. My kids love this. If your movie stats just bumped right up its because my son is addicted to it and we’ve had to watch it a gazillion times! He’s currently rescuing all sorts of fruit that keep ‘falling’ out of the fruit bowl! Janette

  6. This is adorable. :) I’m definitely pinning this, because my six year old son would love it.

P.S. I found your blog via Blog Inc. It was great to read what you had to say in the book.

    I love this!

My son spent many hours while growing up making all kinds of wonders out of paper. Stadiums, airplanes and many other things. He is now an engineer designing helicopters for Bell and is living his dream, which began with paper! I am going to share this with him and I know it will bring back many wonderful hours of play that turned into a wonderful career for him.

Thanks so much for your generosity in sharing these models with all of us! I will be sharing them with the next generation in our family.

It’s art you can play with. I have to bet half the adults are downloading this stuff for themselves. Beautiful!
